Embedded Hardware Engineer

We are seeking a motivated Embedded Hardware Engineer passionate about space and technology. In this role, you will be a key player in the development of our flagship product, an onboard AI data processing unit for satellites. You will be responsible for designing, manufacturing, and testing high speed electronic boards, while also setting up and maintaining our lab and testing facilities. With your strong analytical skills you understand diverse and complex embedded hardware systems and derive the optimal embedded architecture. You will integrate high speed and low speed peripherals and feel comfortable working with new systems and unproven technology. Your expertise in Altium Designer, Python scripting, and knowledge of  «  Design For Test (DFT) and Design For Manufacturability (DFM)  »  will be critical to the success of our mission.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Design and test multi-layer, high-speed PCBs compliant with compactPCI, VPX, and PCIe104 standards and tailored for space environments, ensuring robustness and reliability using Altium Designer for schematic and layout design.
  • Apply Design For Test (DFT) and Design For Manufacturability (DFM) approaches to optimize PCB designs for ease of testing and manufacturability.
  • Design, setup and execute functional and environmental tests for the hardware using Python to script and automate the testing procedures.
  • Manage and maintain the electronics lab environment, including equipment setup, calibration, and the creation of testing procedures.
  • Oversee the manufacturing process and supply chain of PCBs, collaborating with vendors and the team to ensure design specifications and quality standards are met.

Must have

  • Master degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.
  • Proven experience in PCB design using Altium Designer or a similar tool, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
  • Experience in Python for scripting and automation.
  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Able to understand diverse and complex embedded hardware systems.
  • Being comfortable working with new systems and unproven technology.

Nice to have

  • Experience in designing FPGA-based PCB's.
  • Familiarity with AI technologies and their implementation in hardware.
  • Prior experience in the space or aerospace industry.

Embedded Software Engineer

We are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer at EDGX to develop embedded software for edge processors, including NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX, and design firmware for various controllers. Your role will focus on writing embedded application software, optimising operating systems for embedded platforms, and streamlining deployment on our custom carrier boards. You will require both deep technical expertise and innovative problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Develop embedded software for the data processors of our product.
  • Design firmware and drivers for small controllers, MCUs, and NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX, focusing on optimizing software deployment and flashing procedures on custom carrier boards.
  • Design and fine-tune Linux-based operating systems for advanced System-on-Chip (SoC) platforms, ensuring peak performance and availability.
  • Implement Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) on FPGA softcores, utilizing a safety barrier approach to enhance system reliability.
  • Collaborate on developing applications for demonstration use cases, harnessing the system’s AI capabilities to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
  • Design, setup and execute test procedures to functionally test our product.

Must have

  • Engineering Master degree in embedded systems or related field.
  • Portfolio of completed projects with exposure to embedded systems.
  • Knowledge of Linux-based OS fundamentals.
  • Experience in Python, C/C++ and firmware/driver development.
  • Experience with communication protocols (CAN, UART, I2C, SPI, PCIe, ETH, USB, ...).
  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience of Yocto / BuildRoot.
  • Experience of Real-Time Operating Systems.
  • Experience with NVIDIA devices.
  • Familiarity with AI technologies and their implementation in hardware.

FPGA Engineer

We are seeking a proficient FPGA Engineer to write, analyze, and debug VHDL/Verilog IP blocks and testbenches, particularly for space-based applications. The role involves implementing high-speed interfaces like PCIe, RTOS IP cores, and managing the entire FPGA design flow, including synthesis and timing closure. You'll also design DSP algorithms for RF and optical transceivers and create IP core drivers for hardware-software communication. Documenting designs for future reference and team use is crucial. Knowledge in Python, C/C++, and excellent English communication skills are required.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Write, analyze, and debug VHDL/Verilog IP blocks and testbenches.
  • Implement data redundancy, safety mechanisms and general design methodologies for space based application.
  • Implement high-speed interfaces like PCIe.
  • Implement RTOS IP cores.
  • Setup, manage and script the entire FPGA design flow, including synthesis, place & route, and timing closure.
  • Design and implement DSP algorithms for signal processing from RF and optical transceivers.
  • Create IP core drivers to facilitate communication between the FPGA hardware and software systems.
  • Document designs and processes thoroughly for future reference and for use by other team members.

Must have

  • Master degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.
  • Proven experience in VHDL/Verilog design, with a portfolio of completed projects.
  • Experience with Xilinx FPGAs and Vivado and deep understanding of the full FPGA design flow, including synthesis, place & route.
  • Knowledge of Python, C/C++.
